Abstract

Exchange rates play an important role in their impact on poverty levels. If an economic policy aimed at maintaining the stability of the prices of the local currency against the dollar has been represented, this will enable the reduction of hyperinflation and then economic stability will be achieved, and this in turn will improve the productive apparatus of the countries of the study sample and thus will lead to an increase in domestic exports towards the world and result in an increase in domestic production and reduce unemployment rates and then target poverty in terms of employing the largest number of unemployed in institutions, companies and production factories in various Terms.

The research tried to identify the role of exchange rates in their impact on poverty levels in Algeria and Egypt with the possibility of benefiting from them in Iraq, especially since Algeria and Egypt are economies somewhat similar to the economy of Iraq, and Algeria relies heavily on oil and gas as a main source of its economy in global markets, while the Egyptian economy lived conditions similar to Iraq’s political, economic and social conditions.

The research reached a number of conclusions, perhaps the most prominent of which is the achievement of the objectives of the economic policy of stabilizing the exchange rates of the currency towards foreign currencies, especially the dollar, and achieving economic growth that works to reduce poverty levels in the countries of the study sample.

Accordingly, the research recommends the need to maintain the value of the local currency from deterioration and the development of economic policies aimed at working to increase productive capacities with the obligation of government agencies responsible for the implementation of those policies to develop and determine a time frame for implementation and find a method to ensure the effectiveness of application and follow-up implementation, and work to establish a database for individuals who are below the poverty line in order to find job opportunities for the unemployed labor force to reduce the phenomenon of poverty.
