Abstract

The study and analysis of the green economy is an economic approach that aims to achieve economic development in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. This economic model focuses on enhancing environmental sustainability by achieving a balance between economic growth, environmental protection, and preserving current and future natural resources.

The research problem was represented in the increase in emissions resulting from industries that rely on non-renewable energy sources, represented by fossil fuels, in addition to the depletion of threatened resources in a short period, and then its impact was negatively reflected on economic growth and development. The research is based on the hypothesis that adopting green national accounts as a new development approach, which takes into account the environmental impacts on the economy, is an important and smooth step towards achieving sustainable economic growth and development. The research aims to analyze the reality and mechanisms of the transition towards a green economy in the sample countries (the United States, the Emirates, and Iraq).

The research methodology, in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives of the research, relied on adopting the deductive approach to clarify the theoretical aspects of the research, and the inductive method that helps facilitate the comparison between the economies of the selected countries and the Iraqi economy.

The most important conclusions reached by the researcher are that green national accounts represent an important step towards achieving sustainable development that combines economic growth and environmental conservation. By integrating environmental dimensions into national accounts, countries can achieve a better balance between the use of natural and economic resources, which enhances public welfare in the long term. The research concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which are enhancing environmental awareness and education, increasing awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, motivating citizens and companies to take sustainable measures, and providing education and education about the environment in schools and communities
