Researchers from the University of Karbala, consisting of Prof. Ali Abdul-Hassan Abbas Hassan and Assistant Dr. Hussam Hussein Shia Al-Salami, published a distinguished study titled: ” Destructive Leaders and Dysfunctional Organizations: A Therapeutic Approach”. CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS.
Organizational behavior and leadership research have traditionally been deeply influenced by positive psychology and appreciative inquiry. Recently, however, a wave of corporate scandals and spectacular organizational failures has forced management and organizational theorists to rethink this approach. Unethical CEO behavior, white-collar crime, property misconduct, employee grievances and lawsuits, organizational terrorism, and workplace violence have all provided the impetus to examine the dark side of leadership. In Destructive Leaders and Dysfunctional Organizations , which includes clinical case studies, ranging from the fashion industry to an aerospace engineering company, the book explores the damaging effects of destructive leadership on organizations and provides tools for early recognition, assessment, and treatment of destructive leadership. The book includes real-life cases of global companies, but the names of these companies have been changed for fear of damaging their reputations. The author studies each company, works with them, interviews employees, and studies and analyzes the behaviors of leaders, and how leaders who suffer from psychological problems or social deficiencies are reflected in their behavior to destroy the organization from within. The author provides treatment cases for each problem. The book is written by:
Alan Goldman, Professor of Management at Arizona State University. He has many years of experience as a management consultant and executive coach for a number of companies in the United States and Japan.
It was published by Cambridge University Press.
It took a long time to translate and revise the book so that it would appear clearly to the reader.
