The College of Administration and Economics Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Banking Governance from the World Bank Perspective

Under the patronage of Assistant Professor Dr. Hashim Jabar Al-Husseini, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, the college organized a scientific seminar titled “Banking Governance from the World Bank Perspective”, with participation from a distinguished group of professors and researchers specialized in the financial and banking fields.

The seminar featured the following speakers:

  • Professor Dr. Haider Younis Al-Moussawi, who discussed the theoretical foundations of banking governance and its importance in enhancing transparency and financial stability.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Noor Salah Abdul Nabi, who presented a detailed analysis of the banking governance standards followed by the World Bank and their role in mitigating banking risks.
  • Assistant Lecturer Shaimaa Hadi Ni’mah, who reviewed successful international experiences in implementing banking governance, focusing on the challenges faced by the Arab banking sector in this area.

The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of banking governance in achieving financial stability and its role in improving the performance of financial and banking institutions in accordance with international standards. The seminar also discussed ways to enhance these practices in the local banking sector, contributing to sustainable economic development.

The seminar saw active participation from academics, researchers, and graduate students, who contributed to the discussion with scientific inquiries and questions on how to enhance banking governance mechanisms in Iraqi financial institutions.

At the end of the seminar, the participants issued several recommendations, including:

  • Strengthening cooperation between banking institutions and regulatory bodies to ensure effective implementation of governance standards.
  • Developing banking regulations to align with international standards.
  • Intensifying training courses and specialized workshops to raise awareness of the importance of banking governance.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean of the College expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the lecturers for their valuable efforts in delivering this seminar, praising their role in enriching academic and practical knowledge in the banking field. He also emphasized the importance of continuing to organize such seminars, which contribute to the development of the financial and economic sectors in Iraq.
