Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Assistant Professor Dr. Hashim Jabbar Al-Husseini, the college organized an awareness and educational seminar titled “The Dangers of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances on Society.” This initiative aligns with the college’s efforts to raise awareness among students and the broader community about the severe negative effects of this alarming phenomenon.

The seminar was attended by faculty members, students, and staff, featuring a lecture by Colonel Ayman Al-Abbadi, Deputy Director of the Karbala Narcotics Directorate, alongside the Directorate’s Media and Public Relations Officer. During their presentation, they discussed the harmful effects of drugs and psychotropic substances on individuals and society, as well as strategies for combating and preventing their spread.

The seminar covered several key topics, including:

  • Types of drugs and psychotropic substances and their impact on mental and physical health.
  • Causes and motivations behind addiction and ways to prevent falling into this scourge.
  • Security and legislative efforts in drug control, highlighting the role of law enforcement agencies and the community in combating drug abuse.
  • The role of family and educational awareness in drug prevention, emphasizing the importance of parental supervision in protecting young people from addiction.

The seminar witnessed significant engagement from attendees, who raised numerous questions about prevention and treatment methods, as well as the role of educational institutions in raising awareness about drug-related dangers.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the speakers for their valuable efforts in educating students and the community on this critical issue. He also stressed the importance of intensifying such initiatives to promote a culture of prevention and raise awareness about the dangers of drugs, ensuring a safer future for youth and society.
