Assistant Professor Dr. Mahdi Mohammed Tali, a faculty member at the College of Administration and Economics – University of Karbala, has published a scientific research paper at the Banking Risk Institute Conference for Mathematics, Economics, and Risk. The conference was held at Saratov State National Research University in the Russian Federation, in collaboration with the Russian Bank and the Higher School of Economics.
Research Summary
The study analyzed the factors influencing economic growth and production in the services sector of the Iraqi economy. Economic growth during the period 2003–2014 was examined using a mathematical model and the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) methodology, which is applied to analyze time-series data with different integration levels.
The study reached several key findings, including:
- The weak adoption of modern technology in the Iraqi economy has led to an inverse relationship between human capital, physical capital, and total factor productivity (TFP) in the services sector.
- The recommendations emphasized the need to invest in human capital through education development, healthcare improvements, and enhanced research and development, as these factors play a crucial role in supporting economic growth.
- The study underscored the importance of knowledge and technological advancement in improving total factor productivity and achieving sustainable economic growth.
The research employed mathematical analysis and modern statistical methods, including the EViews software, to evaluate economic relationships and assess the impact of production factors on Iraq’s economic growth.
Research Significance
This study serves as an important reference for decision-makers and economic policymakers, as it contributes to understanding the role of total factor productivity in the services sector. The findings help in formulating effective economic policies to address the challenges facing the Iraqi economy, particularly in light of inadequate economic policies.
