The College of Business and Economics at the University of Karbala organized an advanced training course entitled “Advanced Academic Writing and Scientific Research Skills”, with the participation of a group of undergraduate students from various scientific departments, as part of the college’s efforts to develop students’ research abilities and prepare them to engage in a professional academic environment.

The course aimed to enable students to acquire methodological skills and practical tools that help them write academic research according to modern scientific standards, as well as enhance their ability to formulate ideas, analyze data, and document sources in a correct way.

The lectures of the course were presented by a group of faculty teachers, who are:

The topics of the course included:

Foundations of academic writing and the formulation of a research idea.

Criteria for selecting a research title and preparing an integrated research plan.

Scientific research methodologies, types of research, and methods of data collection.

Global documentation methods (APA, MLA, Chicago) and how to use them.

Skills in paraphrasing, critical analysis, and theoretical framework building.

Ethics of scientific research and avoidance of plagiarism and intellectual plagiarism.

Practical exercises on writing a research introduction, formulating the research problem, its objectives, and hypotheses.

The course witnessed a wide interaction from the participating students, who expressed their benefit from the practical examples and scientific discussions presented by the lecturers, which contributed to enhancing their abilities to write university research professionally.

This course comes as part of a series of scientific activities adopted by the college with the aim of raising the academic level of students and developing their research skills in line with the requirements of modern university education.
