College of Administration and Economics – University of KarbalaWomen’s Affairs Unit Organizes an Awareness Campaign on the Occasion of the Global “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”

In line with the University of Karbala’s vision to promote social awareness and reinforce human rights principles, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Administration and Economics organized an awareness campaign marking the global “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence,” held annually to reduce all forms of gender-based violence.

The campaign included a series of educational and awareness activities, featuring the distribution of posters and informational boards throughout the college corridors to introduce students to the nature and objectives of the campaign. It also highlighted the psychological and social impacts of violence against women and emphasized the importance of protecting women’s rights and empowering them in various fields.

The event also featured an awareness lecture delivered by the head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, discussing the concept of violence, its types, indicators, and methods of prevention, along with practical guidance for students on reporting and dealing with cases of violence within the community.

The College Dean affirmed that this campaign is part of an integrated program dedicated to supporting women and enhancing students’ awareness of women’s issues, noting that the college is committed to continuing such initiatives that promote a safe university environment based on respect for human rights.

The campaign concluded with strong engagement from students and staff, who praised the importance of these activities in strengthening community awareness and promoting values of equality and respect.
