On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala welcomed a delegation from the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education and Scientific Research, headed by the respected MP Dr. Firas Al-Maslamawi. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration and communication between the legislative and academic sectors in support of the development of higher education in Iraq.
The delegation was received by the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Hashim Jabbar Al-Husseini, along with several department heads and faculty members, who welcomed the visit as a reflection of the committee’s concern for the educational landscape in Iraqi universities.
During the meeting, several key topics were discussed, including the current state of university education at the college, the challenges faced in the current phase, and ways to enhance the educational process in line with academic advancements and labor market needs. The college also presented its future plans for developing academic programs and infrastructure.
Dr. Firas Al-Maslamawi emphasized the importance of supporting Iraqi universities and enabling them to fully carry out their scientific and research missions. He affirmed the commitment of the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education to stand by academic institutions and address the challenges they face through supportive legislation and policies.
In turn, the Dean of the College expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation for the honorable visit, emphasizing that direct communication between universities and parliamentary committees contributes to strengthening joint efforts and advancing education.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation toured several areas of the college, including classrooms and laboratories, where the members praised the college’s advanced facilities and academic organization.
