The Department of Finance and Banking at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Karbala, organized a series of scientific seminars for master’s and doctoral students as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of scientific research and monitor the academic progress of their research projects. These seminars were conducted ضمن the department’s periodic plan to follow up on the stages of completing theses and dissertations.
The seminars aimed to assess the actual level of progress achieved by students in preparing their research by discussing the fundamental components of scientific research. These included identifying the research problem, formulating hypotheses or research questions, reviewing previous literature, and evaluating the theoretical frameworks and scientific methodologies adopted in the applied component.
Students presented the results they had reached during various stages of their work, and the sessions witnessed in-depth academic discussions by the scientific committees and department faculty members. These discussions included methodological remarks and advisory recommendations to correct research directions and improve the content of the theses, with an emphasis on adherence to scientific originality and research ethics.
The supervising committees stressed the importance of adhering to the timelines set for completing the research and using appropriate statistical and analytical tools suited to the nature of each study, in line with academic standards.
At the conclusion of the seminars, the scientific committees commended the efforts made by the students and encouraged them to take into account the feedback provided and further develop their research in a way that contributes to improving the quality of postgraduate outputs in the department.
