The aim of the current study is to analyze the role of the perceived
organizational support and psychological contract as being two
independent variables that enhance the job engagement as a dependent
variable through building the social identity of the employees which is an
intermediate variable. The researcher has chosen the private colleges in
the Middle Euphrates governorates that including (Najaf, Karbalaa and
Babylon). The sample of the study reached ( 284) professor who work at
those colleges adopting each individual as a basic unit for analysis.
The study attempted to answer many queries which later
constituted the problem of the study. The most prominent question is “Do
the perceived organizational support and psychological contract have a
role in achieving the job engagement if the social identity of the
employees was built?
The importance of the study arise from the importance of its
variables and from the many studies that confirmed the importance of
investigating the relation between those variables. In addition, it is very
crucial that the university managements to take into their consideration
the studied variables if superiority and competitiveness are of its aims.
To achieve the aims of the study the researcher adopted four groups of
hypotheses; variableness, correlation, direct effect and indirect effect
hypotheses. The hypotheses were tested within a model that was built
depending on a prior study that revealed the variable relation among the
study variables. The analytic descriptive method was adopted to reach
the demanded results.
Many statistical methods were adopted to test the hypotheses like
the descriptive statistical analysis, the minor and multiple regression,
path analysis and structural modeling equation, through statistical
programs like SPSS V.18, AMOS V.18.
The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of
which is the role of the perecived organizational support and
psychological contract in enhancing the job engagement through building
the social identity of the employees. The study presented a number of
recommendations that were based on the theoretical and applied
framework of the study. The most important point is the colleges in the
Middle Euphrates area should take into consideration the concepts of the
study for the effect it can have on the performance of the faculty members
to ensure survival and competitiveness in the world of business
