The role of social responsibility in achieving high performance An exploratory study of the opinions of managers in the General Company for the Southern Cement Industry

Abstract This study sought to clarify the role of social responsibility and high performance. In the context of the problem of study, this study went towards the search for answers to the questions1) What is the level of importance of the variables of the study (social responsibility, high performance) with its sub-dimensions, at the level of the sample study laboratories ?.2) What are the trends of influence (social responsibility) in achieving (high performance) in the sample study laboratories ?. Accordingly, the problem of the study is largely focused on this important and vital aspect which through its evaluation and diagnosis will enable the investigated laboratories to achieve high performance, so this study went towards the set of characteristics that contribute to the achievement of high performance (the field of application of this study is On a sample of Iraqi cement factories (the General Cooperative of Southern Cement, Karbala Factory, Kufa Factory, Samawah Plant, Babel Laboratory, Al Noura Factory). This study aims to demonstrate the role of social responsibility in achieving high performance. In order to achieve this objective, the study adopted a hypothesis that expresses the logical relations between the variables of the study. The survey questionnaire was used as a main tool in collecting data as well as personal interviews and observations related to the field. The sample included (125) managers, which consisted of (factory managers, department directors and managers of the people). The results of the applied analysis of the variables of the study showed a number of conclusions, the most important of which are: – The interaction of the dimensions of social responsibility together positively and clearly affects the achievement of high performance.The recommendations included the following:1) Strengthening the partnership with laboratories and competing companies and communicating with companies and other international laboratories.2) The need to pay attention to the most effective social responsibility dimensions, which lead to the adoption of the requirements of the high performance of the improvement of the quality of management and employees and then access to environmentally friendly products
