Abstract:
The aim of the current research is to study the effect of control and auditing in reducing operational risks in Iraqi commercial banks. Karadat Maryam Branch (and Al-Rasheed Bank (Salhiya Branch, Karkh Branch, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Branch), and the International Development Bank. 25 questionnaires were retrieved from the distributed questionnaires. The research used the statistical program SPSS. The research reached the most important conclusion that control and internal audit play a major role in preventing and responding to operational risks. Moreover, the most important recommendations are the need for commercial banks to put in place the necessary supervisory procedures to overcome and control the negative effects resulting from operational risks, as well as to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal control system and internal audit together. In order to achieve the required objectives by regulating the general controls of banking business and activities and their effectiveness. The research also recommends the need for banks to pay attention to the cadres of the internal control and internal audit department, and to train the workers in this department, because of the role of internal control and internal auditing in reducing operational risks.
