Assistant Professor Dr. Sultan Jassim Al-Nasrawi, a faculty member at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Karbala, participated as a member of the master’s thesis defense committee at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Baghdad. The thesis addressed a significant topic in macroeconomics titled:
“Analyzing the Internal and External Gaps and Their Impact on Selected Macroeconomic Variables in Iraq.”

The study aimed to examine the internal gap, which represents the relationship between savings and investment, and its effects on GDP, unemployment rates, and inflation. Additionally, it explored the external gap, referring to the discrepancy between exports and imports and its implications for the same macroeconomic variables.

During the discussion, the researcher reviewed the theoretical and analytical frameworks of both gaps and their impact on Iraq’s economic performance. The study relied on recent economic data and quantitative analytical methods to measure the magnitude of these effects and propose appropriate recommendations to address economic imbalances.

Dr. Sultan Jassim Al-Nasrawi commended the research efforts, emphasizing the importance of the topic in light of Iraq’s ongoing economic challenges. He also stressed the necessity of implementing effective economic policies to bridge these gaps and improve key macroeconomic indicators.

At the conclusion of the discussion, the committee provided constructive feedback aimed at enhancing the research and strengthening its findings. The committee also praised the thesis for its practical significance in supporting policymakers and economic decision-makers.
