College of Administration and Economics – University of Karbala – Department of Statistics Organizes a Training Course Titled: “Fundamentals of Parametric and Non-Parametric Tests”

As part of its continuous efforts to enhance statistical skills among researchers and postgraduate students, the Department of Statistics at the College of Administration and Economics – University of Karbala organized a specialized training course titled:
“Fundamentals of Parametric and Non-Parametric Tests”, which was held over several days with the participation of a number of faculty members, postgraduate students, and individuals interested in statistical methodologies.

The course was delivered by a distinguished group of faculty members from the department:

  • Prof. Dr. Shurooq Abdul Ridha Saeed
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Sakeena Shamil Jasem
  • Lecturer Dr. Bashar Khalid Ali

The course aimed to introduce participants to the core concepts and fundamentals of Parametric and Non-Parametric Statistical Tests, focusing on the key differences between the two in terms of data types, statistical assumptions, and appropriate application areas.

Additionally, the course included a practical component where participants learned how to apply these tests using statistical software such as SPSS and Excel, thereby enhancing their ability to choose the most suitable statistical approach for their research data.

The course witnessed active engagement and enthusiasm from participants, who expressed great interest in the presented material, all within an intellectually stimulating environment filled with constructive dialogue and discussion.

This initiative is part of the college’s vision to promote applied learning in higher education and to raise the standards of scientific research and data analysis across various academic disciplines.

At the end of the course, thanks and appreciation were extended to the instructors and participants, with an emphasis on the importance of holding such specialized courses that contribute to enhancing the statistical and research competence of the academic community.
