As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the statistical and programming skills of students and researchers, the Department of Statistics at the College of Administration and Economics – University of Karbala organized a specialized training course titled:
“Random Variable and Its Types in MATLAB”, with the participation of a group of specialized faculty members.
The course was conducted under the supervision and instruction of:
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Enas Abdul Hafidh Mohammed
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Sakeena Shamil Jasem
- Lecturer Dr. Bashar Khalid Ali
The aim of the course was to develop both theoretical and practical knowledge among participants regarding random variables—both discrete and continuous—by leveraging MATLAB’s powerful capabilities in probability distribution simulation and statistical data analysis.
The course covered several practical themes, including:
- Introduction to the concept of random variables and distinguishing between their types
- Using MATLAB functions to generate random values and analyze their characteristics
- Hands-on exercises in simulating common probability distributions
- Research applications using MATLAB tools for data analysis
The course attracted significant interest and engagement from postgraduate students and researchers, providing a stimulating learning environment that fostered skill development and creativity in the fields of statistics and programming.
At the conclusion of the course, participants expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the organizers for the valuable knowledge and practical applications presented, which contributed to broadening their academic and research perspectives.
This course is part of a series of scientific activities that the Department of Statistics aims to implement, with the goal of enhancing student and researcher competencies and expanding the use of modern software tools in various statistical fields.
