As part of its commitment to developing students’ communicative and linguistic competencies, and in alignment with its vision to graduate highly skilled professionals equipped to meet the demands of the job market, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a specialized training course titled:
“Enhancing Students’ Language Skills in Administrative Communication: Strategies and Techniques.”
The course aimed to strengthen students’ linguistic proficiency within administrative contexts, focusing on professional expression, the formulation of administrative correspondence and official reports, and both verbal and written communication strategies in the workplace. This initiative is part of a broader series of developmental activities aligned with the college’s preparation for the implementation of the Bologna Process, which emphasizes practical and communication skills alongside theoretical knowledge.
The course was delivered by a group of specialized faculty members:
- Prof. Dr. Sahar Abbas Hussein – Department of Business Administration
- Lecturer Dr. Salah Mahdi Jaber – Department of Statistics
- Asst. Lecturer Suad Jabir Sultan – Department of Economics
Key topics addressed in the course included:
- Principles of effective administrative communication
- Techniques for enhancing formal writing skills
- Methods for presenting ideas and information with clarity and precision
- Public speaking and professional presentation skills
- Guidelines for drafting concise and correct administrative letters and reports
The course attracted a large number of students from various academic departments and featured high levels of engagement and interactive discussions, reflecting students’ strong interest in developing language skills that are vital for their academic and professional futures.
At the conclusion of the course, participants expressed their gratitude to the college administration and lecturers for providing a valuable and practical learning experience. The college reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such training programs aimed at building students’ linguistic and communication abilities, thereby enhancing their readiness for the job market and ensuring a smooth transition to the Bologna educational framework.
