College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala Organizes an Educational Seminar Entitled“Extremism and Its Impact on Society”

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hashem Jabbar Al-Husseini, the college organized an educational seminar titled “Extremism and Its Impact on Society” on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Sayyid Al-Maa Hall, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students.

This seminar was held as part of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and security institutions. Its aim was to promote intellectual and cultural awareness, reinforce the values of moderation and balance among young people, and warn them of the dangers of extremist ideologies and their effects on societal stability and cohesion.

The seminar featured Col. Dr. Ahmed Sahib Abbas, Director of the Legal Division at the Directorate of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism in Holy Karbala, who delivered an extensive scientific lecture discussing the concept of extremism, its causes, and mechanisms of combating it from legal, security, and social perspectives. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational and security institutions to protect students from being influenced by destructive ideas.

The event also included constructive discussions and contributions from attendees, focusing on the importance of strengthening the values of tolerance, fostering a unified national identity, and enhancing the role of universities in building an aware generation capable of contributing to intellectual and social security.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean of the College expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Col. Dr. Ahmed Sahib Abbas for accepting the invitation and for his valuable contribution. He reaffirmed the college’s commitment to continuing awareness-oriented activities that enhance students’ intellectual and security culture and deepen cooperation between the university and various state institutions.
