The Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Karbala Organizes a Training Course Entitled “Digital Protection Skills and Extortion Detection” for Students of the Department of Business Administration

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Karbala, Assistant Professor Dr. Hashim Jabbar Al-Husseini, the Department of Business Administration organized a training course entitled “Digital Protection Skills and Extortion Detection”, which was held from October 21 to 23, 2025, with the wide participation of the department’s undergraduate students.

The course was presented by Prof. Hossam Hussein Shia, in which he addressed the most important concepts and methods related to cybersecurity, how to protect personal accounts and digital information from hacking, as well as methods of early detection of electronic extortion attempts and mechanisms to deal with them legally and ethically.

The course aimed to raise digital awareness among students and promote a culture of safe use of technology and social media, in a way that contributes to reducing the risks that individuals may be exposed to in the digital environment.

At the end of the course, open discussions were held between the lecturers and students on the most important real-world cases and appropriate preventive means, and the participants showed great interaction with the topics raised because of their importance in their daily and academic lives.

This course is part of the scientific and awareness activities that the Department of Business Administration is keen to hold periodically, with the aim of enabling students to acquire new skills that contribute to building their conscious and responsible digital personalities.
