The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala Organizes a Training Course on “Scientific Research and Publishing in High-Impact International Journals”

The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a specialized training course titled “Scientific Research and Publishing in High-Impact International Journals”, with the participation of researchers and postgraduate students. This initiative is part of the college’s efforts to enhance researchers’ capabilities and increase the production of high-quality research suitable for publication in internationally renowned academic journals.

The course was delivered by Prof. Mehdi Salehi from the Islamic Republic of Iran and Prof. Hussein Omran Naji, who reviewed the key skills and modern methodologies for preparing high-quality scientific research, methods for selecting journals with high impact factors, and the steps for publishing according to the standards of global organizations such as Clarivate and Scopus.

The course covered several key topics, including:

  • How to formulate the research problem and objectives based on rigorous research methodologies.
  • Standards of reputable scientific journals and methods to distinguish between indexed and non-indexed journals.
  • Common mistakes in scientific publishing and how to avoid them.
  • The proper structure of a research paper from introduction to discussion and conclusions.
  • How to handle reviewer comments and meet publication requirements.

The instructors emphasized the importance of adhering to ethical and scientific standards in research preparation, and the need to meet global publishing requirements to ensure that research from Iraqi universities reaches the level of international academic institutions.

At the conclusion of the course, an extensive discussion session was held between the instructors and participants, during which questions and inquiries were raised regarding the challenges faced by Iraqi researchers in global publishing, along with practical solutions and guidance. Participants praised the college’s efforts in providing such important scientific courses that contribute to developing their research skills and enhancing their international academic presence.
