College of Administration and Economics – Department of Accounting Organizes a Training Course on “English for Auditing and Taxation Purposes”

As part of its continuous efforts to empower students and develop their specialized skills, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a specialized training course entitled “English for Auditing and Taxation Purposes.” These activities were held under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, who consistently emphasizes that the student is the cornerstone of the educational process, and that equipping students with linguistic and technical skills is the true guarantee for success in a competitive work environment that requires continuous adaptation to developments in the fields of accounting and auditing.

The course was held from Sunday, February 22, 2026, to Tuesday, February 24, 2026, and specifically targeted third-year students in the Accounting Department, aiming to prepare them academically and linguistically before entering their final academic year and approaching professional life.

The course was delivered by Lecturer Ghaith Saleh Mahdi Al-Yasiri, who focused on the importance of mastering specialized English terminology in the fields of auditing and tax collection, especially in light of Iraq’s increasing economic openness and the growing need for accountants capable of dealing with international standards and reports.

The course included intensive training covering several important aspects, including:

  • Auditing Terminology: Introducing key concepts such as (Internal Audit, External Audit, Compliance, and Risk Assessment) in English.
  • Taxation Language: Understanding terminology related to the tax base, deductions, and tax evasion according to international contexts.
  • Drafting Audit Notes: Training students on how to write preliminary audit observations in clear and professional English.
  • Reading International Reports: Learning how to analyze and understand drafts of financial and tax reports issued by international companies operating in Iraq.

The course aimed to break the language barrier for Accounting Department students and equip them with the tools necessary to understand international tax legislation and modern auditing practices adopted by major companies. The sessions were marked by high student engagement, as participants applied what they learned through mini workshops and simulations of real auditing processes.
