In line with the College’s keenness to consolidate scientific output and adhere to the standards of academic honesty, the Department of Accounting held a training and awareness course entitled: “Ethical Use of Scientific Research Tools”
The course lasted for three days, for the period from 2 to 4 March 2026, and targeted a wide segment of the academic family, including professors, employees, graduate students, and fourth stage students, in the Department of Accounting, in order to prepare a promising generation of researchers who are aware of the principles and ethics of the profession.
The course was presented and moderated by the following topics:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amal Mohammed Salman
- Prof. Mohamed Hussein Qutb
- Eng. Dr. Bushra Jaber Mohamed
The course focused on the ethical and legal aspects that govern the scientific research process in light of the tremendous technological development, including:
- The Concept of Scientific Honesty: The Basic Rules for Proper Academic Citation and Documentation.
- Ethics of Dealing with AI Tools: How to Leverage Modern Technologies in Scientific Research Without Falling into the Trap of “Cyber Plagiarism” or “Plagiarism”.
- Rational use of data: Protecting the privacy of the accounting and financial data of the institutions under study and adhering to objectivity and impartiality.
- Intellectual Property: The rights of researchers and publishers and the legal and ethical consequences of overstepping these rights.
The course aimed to consolidate the values of scientific integrity among students and researchers, and to provide them with the right tools to write graduation research and university theses in accordance with international standards.
At the end of the course, the lecturers stressed that “scientific ethics” is the basis on which the success of any sober research is built, pointing out that technological progress should be a means to support the researcher and not a substitute for his intellectual effort and personal honesty.
