To Enhance Academic Rigor, the College of Administration and Economics Organizes a Course on “Research Methodology and Academic Writing Techniques” for Postgraduate Students

As part of its program aimed at supporting the research journey of its students and developing their academic skills, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a specialized training course titled “Research Methodology and Academic Writing Techniques.” The course was held in the Graduate Studies Hall from March 9 to March 11, 2026.

The course targeted postgraduate students (Master’s and PhD), with the aim of equipping them with the proper methodological tools for writing theses, dissertations, and research papers for international publication, ensuring the highest standards of quality and academic rigor.

The course sessions were delivered by:

  • Dr. Sarmad Abdul Jabbar
  • Assistant Lecturer Marwa Ali Neama
  • Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Fadil Atiya

Over the three days, the course covered several precise academic topics, most notably:

Structuring Research: How to select a research problem and define objectives and hypotheses using a rigorous scientific approach aligned with administrative and economic disciplines.

Academic Writing Methodology: Training on proper writing techniques, avoiding common mistakes in structuring the text, and learning internationally recognized citation methods.

Data Collection and Analysis Tools: Highlighting appropriate statistical and methodological tools to transform raw data into valuable research findings and recommendations.

Academic Integrity: Emphasizing research ethics and how to use plagiarism detection tools to ensure the originality of academic work.

The course witnessed strong engagement and valuable contributions from participating students, who emphasized the importance of such workshops in overcoming methodological challenges during their research preparation, contributing to enhancing the University of Karbala’s standing in international academic forums.
