In line with the recent trends towards comprehensive digitization in financial systems, the Accounting Department held a specialized training course entitled: “The Role of Digital Transformation in Supporting the Unified Accounting System in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)”
The course was held over three consecutive days, for the period from 1 to 3 March 2026, and focused on the students of the third stage in the accounting department, as it represents a basic link between academic curricula and modern professional requirements.
The course was presented by a group of academics specialized in the department, namely:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Neama Abed Akhras
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Mohamed Hassan
- Eng. Zahraa Akrim
The course discussed a number of fundamental issues that affect the core of accounting work in light of modern technology, including:
- Digital transformation strategies: How the unified accounting system transitions from traditional processes to smart systems.
- International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS): Mechanisms for adapting the Standard Accounting System to comply with international requirements to ensure the transparency and quality of financial statements.
- Digital Governance: The Role of Technical Tools in Enhancing Control and Auditing in Accordance with International Standards.
- Practical Applications: Review models of how financial statements can be processed electronically to meet the requirements of international financial reporting.
The course aimed to enable students in the third stage to understand the challenges and opportunities that digital transformation imposes on the accounting profession, and to equip them with the necessary skills to deal with the updated accounting systems.
During the sessions, the lecturers stressed that the integration of technology with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the only way to raise the efficiency of financial performance in organizations, praising the great interaction and awareness shown by the participating students during the days of the course.
