Abstract

The research interested in assessing the economic performance of Al Furat State Company for Chemical Industries and Pesticides, which is located between the Musayyib District Center and the area of the Indian Dam, and it belongs administratively to Sidat Al-Hindi, affiliated to Babil Governorate, and it is one of the oldest companies that work in this field of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals. The company has three production factories Caustic soda, sulfuric acid plant, Al-Tariq factory for agricultural pesticides) Note that the soda factories and Al-Tariq factory are suspended from 2014 until the end of 2019 and therefore we will limit ourselves to assessing the economic performance of the sulfuric acid plant as the concentrated sulfuric acid factory produces two types of acid, concentrated and dilute acid, As a set of criteria was adopted that depend on performance evaluation such as (the standard of production capacity, the standard of productivity, return on capital, the value added standard, the degree of manufacturing standard, the degree of technology used, the standard of marketing efficiency, the standard of cost of sales, the standard of salary and wages ratio To the added value).

The results showed that the concentrated sulfuric acid plant had succeeded in some tests and failed in others. At the end of the research, a set of conclusions were reached for the strengths and weaknesses, including the increase in the revenues of the concentrated sulfuric acid plant during the period (2016-2018) compared to (2014-2015). This indicates the good possibilities available to the company for production and marketing due to the increase in sales. The concentrated sulfuric acid factory achieved high profit rates in the year (2018, 2017, 2016), compared to (2014-2015) where its value was negative due to higher costs and lower revenues. In addition to writing several points as recommendations to the company’s management, including the need for the company to conduct a periodic and continuous performance evaluation and benefit from the results in developing the state of the factory’s condition and the need to cooperate with research centers and academic expertise in this field in order to enhance its work and raise its competitiveness.
