Abstract

   The research started from a problem that the bank faces internal and external challenges, and their shadows are reflected in the level of its banking competence, and among the most important and sensitive challenges that the bank is exposed to, which is the credit risk, as it is a threat to the bank’s future, as it is related to the uncertainty of the borrower’s ability to fulfill its obligations  The contractual direction of the bank, and what may entail large losses that lead to bankruptcy.  This in itself is a major challenge facing the bank, especially with regard to how to direct its available resources and achieve the optimal use of these resources.  The research aims t:

Knowing the extent of the researched bank’s adoption of credit risk methods and employing them in enhancing its banking efficiency. 

The research sought to determine the effect of credit risk as an independent variable in enhancing banking efficiency as an approved variable, and the research was conducted on a sample of the banking sector in the Iraq Stock Exchange, specifically Baghdad National Commercial Bank, and the research period was from 2010-2019)) and the research variables were measured by adopting appropriate financial indicators  For this search.

  In order to achieve the objectives of the research, main hypotheses were formulated and tested using the statistical program (SPSS).  The research reached a set of conclusions, perhaps the most important of which is that credit risk does not affect the enhancement of the bank’s banking efficiency.

  The search was concluded with a group of T. Recommendations, the most important of which is the need to pay attention to the risk management department, to provide a solid database on the various customers dealing with the bank and to update it constantly, and to ensure the correctness of the information provided by the customer by taking a general idea of   their social status and the extent of their sincerity and determining the goal of Credit request.
