The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a distinguished scientific workshop titled “A Study on the Economic Thought of the Martyr Sayyid Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr (Quddis Sirruh),” featuring notable scholarly participation from both inside and outside Iraq.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Mohammad Zarei from Iran’s Monbad University, with the participation of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hashem Jabbar Al-Husseini, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala, and attended by several faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students.
The workshop addressed the key intellectual and economic concepts introduced by the martyr Al-Sadr in his works, particularly his book “Our Economy”, analyzing the foundations of the Islamic economic theory he proposed and its role in formulating alternative economic models characterized by justice and sustainability. The presenters also reviewed Al-Sadr’s efforts in establishing a methodological framework for contemporary Islamic economic thought and explored its applicability in addressing modern economic challenges.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Hashem Jabbar Al-Husseini emphasized in his speech the importance of drawing on the legacy of great scholars and thinkers like the martyr Sayyid Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr, whose profound and rigorous thought can serve as a vital starting point for developing economic perspectives in academic institutions.
At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion session was held where attendees asked questions and exchanged views, enriching the topic and contributing to expanding the scope of scientific research in the field of Islamic economics.
