As part of its program aimed at developing research skills among postgraduate students, the College of Administration and Economics / Department of Economics at the University of Karbala organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled:
“Academic Writing and Translation of Research Abstracts According to International Publication Requirements.”
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Mahdi Mohammed Tali Al-Yasiri, with active participation from postgraduate students, reflecting the college’s efforts to enhance academic and research standards and strengthen students’ capabilities in high-quality academic publishing.
The workshop addressed several key topics, including:
- The concept and importance of the research abstract in academic studies.
- Scientific and methodological principles for writing abstracts according to international journal standards.
- Accurate academic translation of abstracts from Arabic to English.
- Common mistakes made by researchers when preparing research abstracts.
- International publication requirements in journals indexed in global databases.
During the workshop, the instructor emphasized the importance of adhering to international standards in writing research abstracts, highlighting its role as the first impression of research and its central function in the acceptance of studies for publication in reputable journals. He also stressed the need for postgraduate students to develop academic writing skills and scientific language proficiency.
The workshop witnessed active engagement from the students through discussions, questions, and scientific contributions, enriching the practical aspects of the topic.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala, aimed at supporting research endeavors and promoting a culture of academic publishing in accordance with international standards.
