Enhancing Marketing Skills in the Financial Sector: Department of Business Administration Organizes a Course on “Promoting Banking Services”

As part of its series of academic and training activities aimed at preparing a generation equipped with modern managerial skills, the Department of Business Administration at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Karbala, organized a specialized training course entitled “Promoting Banking Services.”

The course was held from March 29 to April 1, 2026, targeting students of the department. It aimed to familiarize them with modern marketing mechanisms in the banking sector and how to build sustainable relationships with customers in a highly competitive financial market.

The course was delivered by:

  • Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Tarif Sagheer
  • Assistant Lecturer Mais Imad Kadhim
  • Assistant Lecturer Zainab Dawood Salman
  • Assistant Lecturer Bariq Fadhil Jabr

The course topics were distributed over four days and included:

1. Concept of Banking Promotion:
Explaining the importance of promotion as a key element of the banking marketing mix, and its role in introducing the public to innovative financial services and products.

2. Elements of the Promotional Mix:
Discussing advertising, personal selling, and sales promotion techniques, as well as how to design promotional messages that align with the needs and preferences of different customer segments.

3. Promotion in the Digital Era:
Highlighting the use of social media platforms and smart applications in promoting digital banking services, along with the importance of speed and accuracy in attracting customers.

4. Reputation and Trust Management:
Addressing the role of promotion in building a bank’s corporate identity and enhancing public trust, with a focus on the ethics of financial promotion.

The course witnessed notable engagement from students, with sessions featuring in-depth discussions on the realities of the banking sector in Iraq and how marketing skills can be leveraged to develop this vital sector, thereby enhancing graduates’ competencies and preparing them for professional integration into the labor market.
