Participation of Faculty Members from the University of Karbala in the Ninth International Scientific Conference on the Arbaeen Pilgrimage

The University of Karbala – College of Administration and Economics presented a distinguished research paper at the Ninth International Scientific Conference on the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, held from August 18–19, 2025 (23–24 Safar 1447 AH) at the Sayyid al-Awsiya Complex of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

The participation came from:

  • Prof. Dr. Shurooq Abdul-Ridha Saeed Al-Sabbah
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hamza Aboud
  • Lecturer Maryam Mahdi Enad Hassoun

The research was entitled:
“Using the Double Exponential Smoothing Method to Predict Health Indicators During the Arbaeen Pilgrimage”

The paper was discussed in the morning session on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, highlighting the importance of employing modern statistical methods to predict health indicators arising from the millions of pilgrims during the visitation. The findings aim to support decision-makers, health authorities, and service providers in offering the best possible services to the pilgrims.

The conference’s scientific committee praised the researchers’ efforts and the significance of their topic in serving society and strengthening the applied dimension of statistical and administrative sciences in one of the largest human gatherings in the world. It was also decided that the paper will be published later in the peer-reviewed Arbaeen Journal, issued by the Karbala Center for Studies and Research at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

This scientific participation reflects the University of Karbala’s mission to engage with society and contribute effectively to addressing challenges and providing sound scientific solutions that serve the public good.
