The College of Administration and Economics – University of Karbala organized a training course titled “Integrating GPS Technologies with Mobile Phones: Developments, Challenges, and Future Prospects”, held from December 12–16, 2025, with the participation of faculty and administrative staff. The course is part of the college’s efforts to keep pace with modern technological developments and apply them in administrative and academic fields.
The course aimed to introduce participants to Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies and their integration with mobile phones, explain their evolution and applications across administrative, educational, and research domains, and discuss key technical and security challenges. It also explored future prospects in light of digital transformation and rapid advancements in smart communication technologies.
The course covered the basic principles of GPS systems, methods for integrating them with smartphone applications, and practical examples of real-world applications, emphasizing their role in improving work efficiency, supporting decision-making, and enhancing administrative and academic services.
The lectures were delivered by Asst. Instructor Qusay Dhafer Salman and Asst. Instructor Farouq Khudair Abbas, who provided both theoretical and practical sessions, enhancing participants’ understanding of the technical and practical aspects of these technologies and opening discussions on ways to maximize their use in the university work environment.
At the conclusion of the course, participants expressed appreciation to the college administration and lecturers, emphasizing the importance of continuing such training programs to raise the technical and knowledge level of faculty and administrative staff, and to stay abreast of modern scientific and technological developments.
