As part of its scientific and awareness activities, the Human Rights Unit at the College of Administration and Economics / University of Karbala organized a training course entitled:
“Educating and Raising Students’ Awareness of Human Rights in the University Environment,”
for students of the Accounting Department during the period 16–17–18 February, with the participation of a distinguished group of the college’s faculty members.
The course was delivered by:

- Lecturer Dr. Ayoub Jassim Mohammed
- Assistant Lecturer Nawras Ali Mardan
The course included interactive scientific themes that focused on introducing students to the concept of human rights and their legal and ethical foundations, as well as clarifying the most important rights and duties that students enjoy within the university campus. Particular emphasis was placed on freedom of expression, respect for others’ opinions, equality, non-discrimination, and the right to a safe and creativity-supportive learning environment.
The lectures also addressed the national and international legal frameworks regulating human rights and their reflections on the academic environment, highlighting mechanisms for promoting a culture of mutual respect between students and faculty members, and the role of educational institutions in consolidating the principles of justice, transparency, and integrity.
The course witnessed notable interaction from students through interventions, questions, and open discussions aimed at enhancing their legal and human awareness and building a university personality that is conscious of its rights and committed to its duties.
This course comes within the College of Administration and Economics’ efforts to spread the culture of human rights within the university community and to prepare students with legal and ethical awareness that contributes to building an academic environment based on respect and responsibility, in line with the university’s mission and its goals of serving society and promoting the values of good citizenship.
