To Enhance the Quality of Theses and Dissertations: College of Administration and Economics Organizes a Training Course on “Types of Data Representation in Scientific Research”

As part of its academic program aimed at developing researchers’ skills, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a specialized training course entitled:
“Types of Data Representation in Scientific Research.”

The course was held from Sunday, February 22, 2026, to Tuesday, February 24, 2026, and was primarily targeted at postgraduate students from various scientific specializations within the college. The aim was to enable them to present their research findings professionally by combining statistical accuracy with visual clarity.

The course was delivered by a distinguished group of professors specializing in statistics and quantitative analysis:

  • Prof. Shurooq Abdul Redha
  • Dr. Enas Abdul Hafez
  • Dr. Sada Fayez

During the sessions, the lecturers emphasized that data representation is not merely a cosmetic aspect of research, but rather a fundamental analytical tool that helps both researchers and readers easily and accurately identify complex economic and administrative relationships and trends.

The course included both theoretical and practical training covering several key topics, including:

  • Representation of Quantitative and Qualitative Data: How to choose the most appropriate graphical format (bar charts, time-series line graphs, pie charts) based on the nature of the studied variables.
  • Use of Statistical Software: Utilizing digital analysis tools to transform static tables into expressive and interactive visual charts.
  • Principles of Professional Graphical Presentation: Adhering to academic standards in labeling axes, citing sources, and selecting colors that enhance scientific clarity.
  • Trend Analysis: Methods for representing forecasts and future economic indicators through graphical modeling.

The course aimed to enhance the ability of postgraduate students to present their research results in a clear and persuasive manner, contributing to strengthening the college’s scientific output and facilitating the review and publication of research in reputable international journals.

The sessions also included practical workshops, during which students presented samples of their research data under the supervision of the lecturers.

This initiative comes as part of a series of activities adopted by the college’s deanship to support the research journey of postgraduate students and equip them with modern technical skills that keep pace with the ongoing developments in global scientific research methodologies.
