The College of Business and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a specialized training course entitled “Network Security and its Relationship with Banks”, for the period from 26 to 28 October 2025, with the participation of a group of faculty staff and faculty.
The course aims to enhance security awareness in the field of electronic networks and demonstrate their importance in the banking sector, especially with the rapid development of digital services and the increasing reliance of banks on electronic systems in data management and financial operations.
The course was presented by Eng. Qusay Dhafer Salman, who reviewed a number of important topics, most notably:
The concept of network security and its importance in banking institutions.
Common cyber threats facing banking systems.
Sensitive data protection mechanisms and breach diagnostics.
Globally adopted security standards in banks’ digital infrastructures.
Preventive measures to be followed within organizations to reduce cyber risks.
The course also included practical applications and presentation of real-world cases on banking breaches and methods of dealing with them, while clarifying the importance of coordination between technical and financial departments to ensure the protection of information and enhance confidence in the banking system.
At the end of the course, the participants praised the scientific material presented, stressing that this course contributed to raising the level of security awareness and enhancing their capabilities in dealing with the digital challenges facing financial institutions.
