Under the generous patronage of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala, Assistant Professor Dr. Hashem Jabbar Al-Husseini, the Human Rights Unit at the college organized an awareness course entitled “University Student Rights and Duties”. This initiative comes as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to promote legal awareness and to foster a culture of rights and responsibility among its students.
The course was held in Sayyid Al-Shuhada Hall within the college and was attended by a number of professors, staff members, and a large gathering of students from various departments. The lecturers for the course were:
- Professor Dr. Karar Abbas Mutib
- Assistant Professor Dr. Doreen Benjamin Hormuz
- Lecturer Dr. Montasir Imran Al-Rifai
- Lecturer Dr. Ayoob Jassim Hanoun
The course addressed several important topics, including defining students’ academic and administrative rights according to applicable laws, emphasizing the importance of adhering to proper university conduct, and highlighting the role of students in supporting a university environment based on mutual respect and the protection of academic freedoms.
The lectures also stressed the necessity for students to be fully aware of their rights while fulfilling their duties towards their peers, professors, and the broader university environment. This contributes to the preparation of conscious and qualified cadres capable of participating effectively in building society.
At the end of the course, the Dean expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the lecturers for their valuable efforts, praising the active role of the Human Rights Unit in supporting the academic mission and enhancing legal awareness among students. He also affirmed the college’s commitment to continuing to organize similar awareness activities.
