Faculty Member from the University of Karbala Chairs a Master’s Thesis Defense Committee at the University of Mosul

Prof. Dr. Amir Ali Khalil Al-Moussawi, a faculty member at the College of Administration and Economics – University of Karbala, chaired the committee for a master’s thesis defense in the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences, College of Administration and Economics – University of Mosul, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The thesis, presented by the student Barzan Khidr Khudida Ismail Al-Salim, was entitled:
“The Main Determinants of the Interest Rate Margin in the Banking Sector – Evidence from Arab Countries.”
The study aimed to identify the key factors influencing the interest rate margin, whether related to the internal environment of banks or to the surrounding macroeconomic variables.

The research findings showed that internal banking factors had the greatest impact compared to macroeconomic factors, highlighting the importance of internal management efficiency and operational policies in enhancing the financial stability of the banking sector.

The session was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, and the Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, in support of the scientific research process and encouragement of researchers.

The defense committee consisted of:
