The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a training course titled “Citation Methods in Scientific Research,” held from December 7 to 9, 2025, with the participation of a group of college employees from various administrative units and divisions.

The course was delivered by Instructor Zainab Dawood Salman, and aimed to familiarize participants with the fundamentals of scientific citation as a key component in preparing academic research, ensuring intellectual integrity, and protecting authors’ intellectual property rights.

The course covered major globally recognized citation and referencing styles such as APA, Chicago, and MLA, and explained how to use them correctly within the research text and in the reference list. It also addressed common citation errors and ways to avoid them, in addition to clarifying the difference between direct and indirect quotation, and how to perform academic paraphrasing without altering the original meaning.

The course included practical applications that helped participants use reference management software such as Mendeley and EndNote, with the aim of facilitating accurate and professional organization and documentation of references.

At the conclusion of the course, participants expressed their appreciation for the scientific material presented and the organizational efforts made, emphasizing the importance of such training programs in improving staff efficiency and enhancing their skills in handling academic research more professionally.
